Description — The high-speed counter module is used in control applications where the ability to detect high-speed machine or process motion is critical. It has a 16-bit counter to accept bidirectional input pulse frequencies of up to 50 kHz from encoders and other high-speed switching devices. It has 4 open-collector (sink) outputs so that the control loop is closed on the module without going through I/O or program scan delays. The module has three modes of operation: range, rate, and sequencer. Typical applications include packaging, material handling, flow monitoring, cut-to-length, motor speed control, and machining.

Description — The high-speed counter module is used in control applications where the ability to detect high-speed machine or process motion is critical. It has 4 counters, but only 2 can be used with quadrature inputs. When configured for class-1 operation with any SLC processor, it provides 16-bit counters with 8 input words and 8 output words. When configured for class 4 operation, it provides 24-bit counters for count ranges of ±8,388, 607 with 23 input words and 8 output words. It has 4 source outputs so that the control loop is closed on the module without going through I/O or program scan delays. Typical applications include packaging, material handling, flow monitoring, cut-to-length, motor speed control, and machining.

Description — This module provides a low-cost solution for a single-axis, open-loop application. The module can provide an absolute position of over ±8,000,000 increments, and pulse-train velocities of up to 250 kHz. The module is compatible with translators with differential inputs, single-ended TTL and opto-coupler interfaces. The module is configurable for pulse train and direction bit or clockwise/counter-clockwise pulse-train outputs. The module operates in three modes: Configuration, Command, and Diagnostic. Digital encoder and auxiliary (home limit switch; home proximity; CW travel limit; CCW travel limit; pulse-train enable; emergency stop) inputs. It is compatible with SLC 500, 5/01, 5/02, 5/03, 5/04, and 5/05 processors.

Description — The 1746-QS module provides closed-loop synchronized positioning control of 4 hydraulic rams and lets you change motion parameters while the axis is moving. For each axis, the module accepts an input from a linear displacement transducer and provides a ±10V output to interface with proportional or servo valve amplifiers. The module is designed for use with the Hydraulic Configurator, a software product that you can obtain from the Allen-Bradley web site on the Internet. The Hydraulic Configurator is an interactive executable that lets you configure the module and tune its axes. The Hydraulic Configurator saves considerable time when troubleshooting or tuning axes. Applications include: plywood presses, roll positioning, palletizers and stackers, forges, and hydraulic tailgate loaders.

1746-RT27 (input)
1746-RT26(output)Description — The 1746-QV module is part of an SLC-based open-loop control system for controlling the speed and placement of a hydraulic ram. The module accepts motion profiles that you program into the SLC processor and monitors an input from a linear displacement transducer. The SLC processor sends to the module a pair of extend and retract profiles that define when to accelerate or decelerate hydraulic motion. This ability to program these changes of speed reduces cycle time and reduces or eliminates pressure spikes and water-hammering for smoother operation and less wear and tear on the machine. This also saves energy and enables faster new-part change-over. The module fits simple hydraulic applications including simple hydraulic presses, die-casting machines, and weld-head placement. The module provides OEMs and system integrators with a less complex way to match hydraulic cylinder pressure or speed with application requirements.
This module is compatible only with an SLC 5/02, SLC 5/03, SLC 5/04, or SLC 5/05 processor in a local I/O chassis.
